Main Street America is a proud supporter of Small Business Saturday, and we're thrilled to team up with American Express to help you support small businesses on your Main Street as a Neighborhood Champion. All Main Street America members have been pre-qualified to serve as Neighborhood Champions on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited so claim your spot before applications close. All you need to do is fill out a brief Neighborhood Champion application and indicate you were referred by the National Main Street Center (NMSC).
As a Neighborhood Champion, you'll:

Rally your community to Shop Small on Small Business Saturday on November 29 and throughout the holiday season.

Plan and host a local event on Small Business Saturday in partnership with small businesses in your community.

Distribute a complimentary Shop Small kit of merchandise that encourages holiday shopping and supporting small businesses all season long.

Polk Clean Energy District (PCED) Listening Session
Thursday, November 6
Energy affordability and the need to reduce the cost of electricity and energy burden for community members is a big issue in Central Iowa. Many families struggle with high energy costs and other issues around energy. If this is something you care about, Polk Clean Energy District is inviting you to a neighborhood listening session.

At the Neighborhood Listening Session we will discuss energy affordability, efficiency, clean energy access, and community resilience. We want to hear from you! Our goal is to capture your insights and experiences which are vital in shaping equitable energy solutions that benefit all residents.
During the session, we’d like to hear your experiences regarding topics such as:

Energy costs and affordability

Home energy efficiency and access to programs

Environmental and neighborhood energy concerns
And other concerns you may have in your neighborhood
This is an open, conversational session—no preparation is required. We sincerely hope to hear your perspective and ideas for building a more affordable, sustainable, and fair energy future for our neighborhoods.
